I am just a tad bit indecisive. The bath reno is a few months off, but Home Depot was running a sale this weekend so I picked up the vanity I was eyeing. I love the sink top. The vanity is pretty solid, much more so than the one I have now, but I was not crazy about the color. I brought it home to try it out. It's waiting for it's haul up the stairs to see.
I got to thinking if HD is having a sale, well, then possibly Lowes was too. I checked their website and swooned a little at this Allen Roth vanity. Near identical size, but a rich cherry finish. I really thought I wanted white, but then this kinda matches my kitchen cabinets, which I love and I was thinking of using left over wood flooring...hmmm.
My current bath
More decisions to be made. Vanity choice. Dark wood, medium wood or paint it white. Flooring choice. Cherry wood or white hex tile. Wall color. Never liked the baby blue. It was all wrong to begin with. White Beadboard?
My bath is really small and this is the only full one in the house. It's not so bad with just Hubs and I, but rather boring.
I gave it a mini facelift about 10 years ago. I found the Corian top on eBay for $50, purchased the faucet and new doors. Painted it white. And the counter was an Off White, not my first choice but for $50 I didn't mind.
I want a smaller vanity to make the space seen bigger. Notice how close the door is to the vanity now. The knob constantly gets in the way! We tend to keep the door open more often than not, just because it gets stuffy in there.
I am planning on giving my teeny, tiny full bath an update this spring. I'll share some pictures soon.
I really like this vanity combo (St. Paul Chelsea) because its very narrow front to back and has a porcelain top, unlike some of the other composite ones out there. What I am not sold on is the color of the vanity.
Home Depot is having a sale next week and this will be on sale for mere $99.
It's no secret that I am a sucker for old romantic movies.
I've seen "An Affair to Remember" too many times to count.
Today is the anniversary of Hubs proposing to me on the top of the Empire State Building.
Somehow he knew my love for sappy things like this would win me completely over.
It was a very cold day. Windy. Raw out. We arrived in NYC and walked to the Empire State Building. By the time we got to the top, I was exhausted and frozen. Peering over the railing, looking around and in 2 seconds flat I was ready to go inside. Before I could blink, Hubs went on one knee, asked my to marry him and tried to put the ring over my leather glove.
Classic of us.
Today I reflect on the simplicity of that day and am grateful for the many years since then that we've grown deeper in love.
A marathon paint session, a deep clean = one fabulous place to hang.
It is truly amazing how paint brings the room to closure. It's hard to believe pushing one wall back 4 feet gained a whole area for a TV, couch, chair and storage.
Hubs uses the basement space for jamming on his guitars, drums and other music stuff. Over the years the space has become more streamlined, but he never had a place to sit, relax, hang with friends, play some guitar, do guy things.
We are both thrilled with the outcome. I can't stop smiling. Friends helped to frame the new wall, run electric and gas and hang the drywall. We painted and trimmed it all out. The TV is a great addition (hung a little high for my taste, but not my cave).
We stole the leather couch and chair from our living room. I had fun shopping for a new set. It's time to shop for storage boxes for the shelves and maybe a rug. Oh and yes, Jerry is hanging on the wall. Like I said, not my cave. :)
